| Statement: | Cecilia Aldarondo obtained her MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths College, University of London, in 2005. Her research interests include interdisciplinary and experimental approaches to the study of art, film, and everyday life, as influenced by performance theory and feminist practice. Her PhD dissertation, 'Documentary Encounters', focuses on the production of memory and history in contemporary visual culture, and she is also spending the summer of 2007 in Havana, conducting fieldwork on contemporary film, video, and art production in Cuba. A frequent contributor to art publications such as mnartists.org, Art Papers and Film Threat, her essay 'Something is Not Quite Right: Recombining Film History in Stan Douglas's Inconsolable Memories' will be published in the book Visual Synergies: Fiction and Documentary in Latin American Film, in 2008. | |
